For this project, I was tasked with developing a concept of toy packaging with a reusable aspect. Thus I created Storybox, a box and stage for children to act out their favorite fairy tale stories. The product is a box that doubles as a stage for a puppet show. This particular edition of Storybox tells the story of Red Riding Hood and contains puppets, sticks, backgrounds, and instructions on how to play with the set. The entire packaging is reusable as it acts as the stage, has inserts for various backgrounds, and space to insert the puppets.
The puppets, backgrounds, and other elements were designed with a childlike concept of wonder. Each artwork/element has rough edges, texture, bright colors, and simple but cute artwork to appeal to any child. For the main packaging, only 4 colors were used: pink, yellow, green, and blue. The colors are playful in their appeal to children. Each of the puppets were made by hand using construction paper and foam. The packaging includes instructions on how to assemble each puppet and play with the box.
